Amtrak Redesign
Winter 2026 | 10 Weeks
This Business Class redesign explores the rise of remote work, and how train travel can create a space to simultaneously work and explore.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 35.5 million hybrid or remote workers by the end of 2024, which is a 3.3% annual increase.
Train transit can provide the freedom to work while you travel, yet current business class doesn’t provide the space to be productive and focus that remote workers require.
How can Amtrak elevate remote workers’ experience by providing functional work space and privacy?

Focused Privacy
Accessible Utility
Modular Structure
Remote and travelling workers require quiet and private spaces.
The amenities of business class should adapt to the user’s needs.
LOPA can be reorganized for the requirements of any route.

The redesigned Business Class features a heads-up display with environmental controls, centrally-located outlets, dividers for privacy, and a large pull-out table.

Architectural, wayfinding, and task lighting, accent the form of the space and provide additional function.
